Ingredients
  

Creamy Grits
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
Shrimp and Sauce
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream

  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Simmer grits in water or broth until tender, stirring often.
  2. Stir in milk, butter, cheese, salt, and pepper. Keep warm.
  3. Cook bacon until crispy; remove and reserve.
  4. Season shrimp and cook briefly in bacon drippings; remove.
  5. Sauté garlic in butter, add broth and cream, simmer.
  6. Return shrimp and bacon to sauce and heat through.
  7. Serve shrimp and sauce over creamy grits.
