Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 2 lbs chicken breast cubed
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • vegetable oil for frying
Sesame Sauce
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
Garnish
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds toasted
  • 3 green onions sliced

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Large skillet or deep fryer
  • Saucepan
  • Wire rack

Method
 

  1. Pat chicken dry and prepare coating ingredients.
  2. Whisk cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper together.
  3. Dip chicken in eggs and coat with flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F and fry chicken until golden brown.
  5. Drain cooked chicken on a wire rack.
  6. Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan and simmer.
  7. Add cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
  8. Toss chicken with sauce until evenly coated.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken for 1-2 minutes before tossing with sauce.
