  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1.25 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 jalapeños seeded and diced
Topping
  • 0.5 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 jalapeño sliced

Method
 

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until foamy, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead dough for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Incorporate shredded cheddar and diced jalapeños evenly into the dough.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  6. Shape dough into a loaf and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Allow a second rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Top with additional cheddar cheese and jalapeño slices.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
