Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast 1 packet
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F/45°C
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs large
Filling
  • ½ cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
Topping
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Fresh berries optional

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and yeast mixture. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Punch down dough, spread evenly in a lined 9×13-inch pan.
  6. Drop jam spoonfuls across dough and swirl lightly. Dot with softened butter.
  7. Cover and let dough rise 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool 10–15 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, add berries if desired, slice, and serve.
