Nutella Lava Fried Calzone

Golden fried calzones filled with warm molten Nutella and dusted with powdered sugar for the ultimate chocolate dessert.

Ingredients
  

Calzones
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
Garnish
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon optional
  • 2 tbsp chocolate shavings optional

  • Deep skillet or Dutch oven
  • Slotted spoon

Method
 

  1. Divide pizza dough into 8 portions and roll each into a 5 to 6 inch circle.
  2. Place 2 tablespoons Nutella in the center of each dough circle.
  3. Mix egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush dough edges.
  4. Fold dough into half-moon shapes and crimp edges with a fork.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry calzones for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and cinnamon before serving.
