  • 0.25 cup sweetened condensed milk optional, for drizzling
  • 1 tsp lime zest optional

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Blender

Method

  1. Wash the peaches and guavas thoroughly. Peel and pit the peaches, then chop the peaches and guavas into small pieces.
  2. Add the chopped peaches, guavas, granulated sugar, and water to a medium saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is very soft and the sugar has dissolved.
  4. Carefully transfer the cooked fruit mixture to a blender and blend until completely smooth.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for a silky syrup, pressing with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.

Notes

Use fully ripe fruit for the best natural sweetness and tropical flavor. Chill the syrup completely before assembling so it does not melt the shaved ice too quickly. The syrup can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 7 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Nutrition is estimated without optional condensed milk.
